With so many children today owning their own cell phone, texting, playing games, the development of social skills and enhancing the brain seems to be put on hold.

Nothing stimulates the brain and keeps our minds engaged than Music - both reading music and playing it on an instrument.

A recent 74 year old student of mine had a stroke previously.   His doctor (Neurologist) told him to take up playing the piano and bridge to keep his mind stimulated and alert and to repair the damage suffered during this stroke.   He did very well at both piano and bridge.  In fact, within two years he became a Master bridge player.

As a little three year old, I have fond memories of reaching up to a huge upright piano in my beginner Sunday School Class.   I was totally enthralled by the sound made every time I touched those keys.

Later, at age 6 some neighbors gave us a baby grand piano...

It set me on a path towards being a Music major in college and a career which has lasted more than 30 years...
